Biography

Sandra Barkevich, MA.LET

Sandra Barkevich has been writing and editing professionally since 2003 and 2011, respectively. As an alumna of SUNY Empire State College with a Master of Arts in Learning and Emerging Technologies and a Bachelor of Science in Business, Management, and Economics, Barkevich understands what a professionally written and edited piece entails. Her business and management skills also make her the ideal editor-in-chief, ensuring WriteType Editorial Services continues to deliver the best product to our authors.

Barkevich’s passion for the written word began when she was sixteen years old. She read her first romance novel, Gentle Warrior by Julie Garwood, and became hooked. Years later, when she attended her first Romance Writers of America (RWA) National Conference in 2006, she got to speak with the woman who ignited her love of reading and nearly melted on the spot.

Barkevich thoroughly enjoys developmental coaching. Her eye for plot and character development is unparalleled. Being able to help authors craft their vision into reality is what makes editing worth it. Whether for first-time authors or established, Barkevich winds her way through the story to find what works and what doesn’t. She isn’t shy about telling authors where she laughed or sighed, but she also isn’t afraid to help authors strengthen their plots, structures, and characters.

Barkevich reads more than romance. Her favorite genres include science fiction, fantasy, young adult, action-adventure and mysteries. Give her a genre novel, and she’ll likely find something to love about it. Some of her favorite authors include: Neil Gaiman, Terry Pratchett, Clive Cussler, Christopher Paolini, J.K. Rowling, R.G. Alexander, Dana Marie Bell, Moira Rogers and so many more, the list could go on for pages.
